About our School:

ACT School is a registered independent school that supports students from the ages of 11-16 years who have been referred to us due to either having been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education, who are school phobic or are classed as vulnerable.

About the role: 

ACT School are seeking a positive, caring individua who is passionate about supporting learners with challenging behaviours. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and patient, with a deep understanding of behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (BESD).

As part of our registered independent school, you will plan and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in line with ESTYN requirements. You will teach small groups of 11-16 year olds who have been referred to us due to exclusion risks, school phobia, or vulnerability.

What we need from you: 

  1. Experience of learners with specific educational needs, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia
  2. Delivery and knowledge of designated curriculum area with specific focus on engaging low level ability learners.
  3. Experience of working with challenging, disengaged learners and challenging inappropriate behaviour
  4. Experience of providing enrichment and personal growth opportunities to young people with a focus on experiential learning
  5. PGCE or equivalent
  6. Have a good and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and know how to use and adapt them
  7. Curriculum development 
  8. Appreciation of personal growth and wellbeing.
  9. Willingness to develop inclusive, experiential learning opportunities.
  10. Focus on enriching education inside and outside the classroom.
