Jobs Growth Wales (JGW+) is part of the ACT family, where they provide training and development for young people aged 16-19 years old to gain skills, qualifications and experience they need to gain confidence to enter training or employment.

What you’ll do: 

We are seeking a dedicated Skills Tutor to deliver construction and health and wellbeing qualifications to learners who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). The role involves engaging learners through formal qualifications and enriching activities, differentiating instruction to meet diverse ability levels, and supporting learners’ progression pathways. Responsibilities include writing reviews, creating Individual Learning Plans, and ensuring positive progression outcomes. Willingness to travel to other centres as needed is required from time to time.

As a Skills Tutor you will help learners to think about their futures and provide some focus on accessible career paths, whilst creating progression opportunities for both further work-based learning and employment.

ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners, and whilst it is not considered essential criteria, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.

This role is varied, and no two days are the same and neither are our learners, we are looking for someone who wants to make a difference in a young person’s life and help them reach their goals! If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you!

What we need from you:

  1. A minimum of 3 years occupational competence within the construction industry.
  2. Experience of qualification delivery
  3. Experience of teaching/ delivery within a learning environment
  4. Creative and passionate for training/learning
  5. Ability to develop others
  6. Good level of Maths and English GCSE C or above (spoken and written)
  7. Well organised and excellent communication skills
  8. Able to relate to the needs of young people  
  9. Able to prioritise workload
  10. Willingness to travel between centres

  1. You will be invited to an interview face to face with the Centre Managers you’ll be working with closely in the role. You may be expected to complete a work-based task, or a micro teach (depending on role).
